10 additional furlough days Update.

Lets go through the budget issue and proposed 10 additional furlough days.

First this is the CAO highlights as of his January 21 letter.

detentioncenter 300x125 10 additional furlough days Update.

LAPD Metropolitan Detention Center

In this Letter, nowhere, not once will you find the CAO mention Julie Butcher and the coalition giving back health-care and raising our costs.

Number two you will notice LAPD & LAFD have not made much progress in reducing the cost’s of those departments.

Detention officers, PSR’S, and Fire Mechanics and Clerks will most likely end up making up that shortfall unless the Council finds money elsewhere.

February 1, 2011

Fast Forward to February 1, 2011 Department Reductions Required to Effectuate Council Approved Reduction Targets and Other Reductions In Lieu of Furloughs
Revised 2/1/11.

Most Departments stayed the same Police made some headway, LAFD looks like they did nothing.

Still a glaring hole in all of this is the FALSE claim (lie) Julie butcher & SEIU made claiming they saved members 10 furlough days.

Not once is it in writing in any document, the only mention of health-care is the rising cost of employee health-care and pensions and a looming 548 million deficit in a few years.

No booking of savings on any budget line is given as credit to SEIU or Coalition members in this current year budget to save us 10 furlough days.

You were lied to.

However Ms. Cheryl Parisi of the coalition just got handed a mayoral appointment to the Workforce Investment Board.

Where will LAPD & LAFD make up the Money?

Will the coalition ever admit they sold out the workers in the JLMBC?

My Only outstanding issue is exactly what the following will mean for Public Works; “Instruct the Board of Public Works to work with CAO to identify $2,000,000 in additional reductions and to review the feasibility of sharing the reduction across all Public Works Bureaus.”

How exactly did SEIU do anything they claim? Please feel free to email me any documents showing SEIU is responsible for anything in this mess other then increasing our costs.
