LAPD recognizes dispatchers, holds open house at West Hills dispatch center

Although the Daily news reported below on the National dispatchers Week, we have known all along the LAPD PSR’s handle a great deal of stress and work load we salute the PSR’s who even after getting furloughed managed to provide service to the public.

We will find out just how much furloughs affected call answering times as soon as the LAPD complies with a public records request they have managed to put on the back burner.

Daily news As part of National Dispatchers Week the LAPD opened the doors to the public at its Valley Communications Dispatch Center in West Hills on Tuesday.

LAPD dispatchers, known as Police Service Representatives (PSRs) fulfill the dual role of police dispatchers and 9-1-1 operators.

In 2010, PSRs provided all dispatching services for the police department and answered 3.9 million calls for police service from the public, according to LAPD.
